Supernatural Control

July 23

I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.

Isaiah 48:17

Craig and Brenda were driving home from Florida on a busy three-lane freeway. Traffic was moving at a steady 75mph, when all of a sudden the SUV in front of them came to a tire-screeching halt. Craig slammed on the brakes of the small compact rental car while instinctively looking in the rear view mirror. He instinctively realized the car behind them wasn’t reacting fast enough and was going to hit them! Taking evasive action, Craig turned hard left, into the emergency lane, and hit the gas. Miraculously, the collision was avoided, and Craig eased the car to a stop.

Looking over at Brenda, he noticed that they were now parallel to the car that had been in front of them. Glancing back, Craig saw that the car from his rear-view mirror had stopped a mere two feet from the back of the other car. Had Craig not taken immediate action they surely would have ended up in a multi-car accident.

As the adrenaline wore off Craig pulled back onto the freeway and got back up to speed. Miraculously, no other vehicles had collided! Craig and Brenda uttered a breathless, “Thank You, Jesus!”

Because he walks closely with God, Craig is open to the Holy Spirit’s leading. He testifies that he doesn’t remember making the decisions that led them to safety. The last conscious thing he remembers doing was thinking to look in the rear-view mirror. Craig states, “From then on it was divine inspiration!”

The Holy Spirit, if we allow Him, will guide us in the way we should go whenever we are faced with the decisions of life. And they need not be of the life and death, spur of the moment variety for us to ask for His input. And as a bonus, like Craig, if we walk in close relationship with God, His Spirit will automatically deliver us in the times our brain can’t process fast enough to save ourselves.

Prayer

“Thank You, Lord, for supernaturally controlling the direction of my life both spiritually and physically. May You always find me willing to learn by submitting myself to You for Your divine guidance. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
